Inspiration

Holly and I just returned from our first trip to New York City, an experience which had a profound affect on me. As soon as we hit the city we made straight for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and from there went straight to the Rembrandt Room. Rembrandt has been my favorite painter my entire life, and only now was I standing before an original for the first time. I was overwhelmed with emotion in that silent cavern filled with his works and took my time absorbing the impact of what I was seeing. The rest of the journey through the museum was one stunning moment after another. Degas, Renoir, John Singer Sargent, And walking unexpectedly into a hall filled with the works of Rodin. Perhaps this sounds overly dramatic, but I started to understand the divinity that must exist in people through the art that human beings can create.
Day two put us on Broadway. So if the museum wasn’t enough of an inspirational impact now I was at the heart of theatre! The energy was palpable, and watching the actors onstage approached unreal. I was burning to be on that stage, and before we left for the night I took some time to let my first Broadway visit sink in. I want to go back again and again. And I want to be on that stage. Starting with a renewed auditioning frenzy now that I can no longer use theatre and travel as excuses.
